We are a company with deep roots in Toggenburg. Not only because this is where the best milk for our first-class cheese is produced, but also because we care about the region and its people. It is therefore natural for us to take care of nature. Another step in this direction was the construction and integration of solar panels on our roofs.

One of two surfaces that now supplies solar energy for our cheese
A promise born out of conviction
Güntensperger carries the EnAW certificate – an award and at the same time an obligation for our sustainable actions and our continuous further development. Efficiency, sustainability and respect characterize our production.
As a traditional company, we work closely with small cheese dairies and family-run agricultural businesses – and we want it to stay that way. These close partnerships ensure a level of quality that would be difficult to achieve otherwise, and almost automatically make us a sustainable and responsible company.
But sustainability means more than just regional value creation. Our approach to energy also defines who we are. The use of renewable solar energy is the next logical step for us – in line with our philosophy and in respect for future generations.
Güntensperger – cheese made with solar power
The construction is complete – a total of 1000 m² of solar cells have been installed on our cheese cellar and office in Lütisburg-Station and on the cheese dairy in Bütschwil. The solar energy generated primarily supplies our own operations. Excess electricity flows into the public grid, thus contributing to the sustainable energy supply of the region.
The advantages are many: we are actively helping to preserve the original beauty of the Toggenburg region, with its unspoiled natural environment and harmonious agricultural land. Our facilities serve as a visible example for other companies looking to opt for renewable energies. At the same time, we are strengthening the regional supply of green energy.
And last but not least, this investment also secures our future: by using energy more efficiently, we will reduce our production costs in the long term – a crucial factor in ensuring that we can continue to offer our customers high-quality cheese at a fair price.
