An award-winning homage to the Toggenburg mountains

Once again, Güntensperger took home several awards from the World Cheese Awards 2023. One of these went to Schnebelhorn - a very special cream cheese that we would like to dedicate some attention to here.

View from the Schnebelhorn - somehow worth seeing, isn't it?

The Schnebelhorn is a mountain not far from where Güntensperger produces cheese - a hike up to the Schnebelhorn is sure to leave a lasting memory. The view from the summit of the surrounding Toggenburg region, the Zurich Oberland and the Swiss mountains is fantastic. Cows have grazed here for centuries and cheese has been made here for generations. >OUR MILK still comes from here and these landscapes are the inspiration for our craft - a homage to the Schnebelhorn was somehow obvious.

Schnebelhorn is therefore also a cheese that we have had in our >PRODUCT RANGE for a long time. Master cheesemaker Reto Güntensperger helped transform the fresh and creamy Toggenburg milk into cheese years ago. With time and experience, we have slightly adapted the Schnebelhorn recipe, and obviously rightly so - the cheese won gold at the last >WORLD CHEESE AWARDS 2023 in Trondheim (Norway). Which was something of a surprise - the cheese is not new, but it is tried and tested.

Long matured cream cheese - strong flavour

Schnebelhorn cheese is a particularly creamy, matured cheese and, like the Schnebelhorn itself, is unique

Schnebelhorn cheese is a highly creamy cheese with the speciality of being matured for a long time. 7 months in the maturing cellar is rather long for a cream cheese. The unusual method of production results in a unique flavour experience.

The creamy first bite sets off on a journey of pleasure. A subtly tart flavour tickles the nose on the first ascent. At the peak of Schnebelhorn enjoyment, the intense, buttery flavour with an aromatic, spicy note floods the palate, while the fine salt crystals trickle over the tongue.

The >SCHNEBELHORN is of course part of our range - alongside other cheese classics and very innovative cheese products. Güntensperger is located at a few >CENTRAL LOCATIONS in the centre of Toggenburg. You can visit us at any time and sample or buy in our >FACTORY STORE.

Traditional und innovative,
