Traditional Rossfallen cheese dairy becomes part of Güntensperger

Another cheese dairy with a lot of tradition and history becomes part of Güntensperger. Like Güntensperger Käse AG, Käserei Rossfallen is a company that values milk from the immediate vicinity and traditional craftsmanship. The historic and well-equipped cheese production facility is a valuable addition, where the best Güntensperger cheese will be made by hand in the near future.

Exciting history

The cheese dairy in Goldingen can look back on a very active history rooted in the surrounding area As early as 1920, dairy farmers from the surrounding area came together to have their milk processed in a dairy hut They came from the side valleys of Töbeli, Chamm, Chopfrain, Enkrinen and even from Müsliegg Called the “Hintergoldinger Käserei” at the time (built in 1939), it was leased by master dairyman Martin Niederer and purchased in 1943 Master cheesemaker Josef Rohner took over the dairy in 1967 The current owner, Reinhard Züger, bought the Rossfallen cheese dairy in 2004. Then as now, the aim is to produce unique cheese from milk from the immediate vicinity, from small farmers for whom animal welfare is not just an empty concept.

Acquisition by Güntensperger

The incorporation of the traditional cheese dairy is a valuable addition for Güntensperger. The philosophy and values of the cheese dairy run by Reinhard Züger correspond to those of Güntensperger. Just as every cheese dairy has its uniqueness, its very special strengths, the Rossfallen cheese dairy will offer us the opportunity to produce very specific cheeses from our range there under the best conditions. It is also particularly valuable for us that Reinhard Züger, the master cheesemaker there, will remain with us as plant manager. As a well-equipped and traditional cheese dairy, it will also be a very suitable location for guided tours with Güntensperger. And, of course, the cheese dairy will also be a new place for us to tinker. Because we continue to refine traditional recipes or invent completely new cheeses. A unique place for unique cheese.

An important new location

Located close to the Zurich Oberland, this expands our catchment area somewhat. This is significant for us. We continue to work with small businesses (small farmers) as milk suppliers - a personal concern of ours to support local, traditionally managed and considerate craftsmanship.

As a growing company with sales in Switzerland and exports to various countries, we are also happy to have another opportunity to turn good milk from the local area into the best cheese.

We are delighted about this addition to our company - about the uniqueness that the Rossfallen cheese dairy represents, about the tradition and cheese culture that we can learn from and about the opportunities that the historic, traditional cheese dairy offers us.

In the meantime, we remain close to the cheese trade and the art of packaging and shipping everywhere else.

Traditional and modern,

The Güntensperger Käse AG team
